Marty Ortiz
My name is Marty Ortiz, and photography isn’t just something I do, it’s how I process the world. After over two decades of military service, including three combat deployments, I found myself searching for a new way to make sense of everything I’d seen and felt. That’s when the camera found me. Through the lens, I capture moments that matter, raw, real, and unfiltered. Whether it’s street photography, photojournalism, or the abstract in everyday life, I bring my full self to every frame. Photography has been my therapy, my escape, and my mission all in one. I’m a proud member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), committed to excellence and ethics in my work. This isn’t about staged perfection, it’s about stories, emotion, and truth. Every photo I create is a piece of my journey, and I hope it helps tell yours too. I’m a graduate of F.I.R.S.T. Institute, a hands-on digital media school in Orlando, Florida. Their Digital Photography program provided me with practical, real-world training in studio work, editing, and event photography. It laid the technical foundation that supports my creative approach today. I'm also an alumnus of The Odyssey Project, a 12-week photography workshop created by award-winning photojournalist Brendan Bannon. Designed to support combat veterans, the project uses photography as a tool for storytelling and reintegration. Through that experience, I learned how to turn my personal journey into a broader conversation—one frame at a time. Welcome to Marty O. Photography—where vision meets purpose.
